Six Sentence Sunday - Thirteen

Seems almost natural to be posting my thirteenth Six Sentence Sunday post -- since there are 13 authors included in the Midnight Seduction Anthology -- and then there's that whole Halloween thing.

Going Berserk is my short in the antho, a taste of the Berserker Mate's Series.  Jakob finds his love, and is afraid he will lose her to his inner beast.

He hadn’t felt such anger in years, so used to the numbness he surrounded himself with.  As he’d washed his scent from her skin, he couldn’t bear to touch her intimately knowing she thought him a monster.  After waiting one thousand years to find happiness, he thought finding her would change his life for the better, not make it worse.

But no matter how angry he was, he couldn’t forget the vision of her relaxed in the tub, the bubbles surrounding her soft, supple skin.  The feel of her strong calves, firm arms, and delicate shoulders made him crazy to touch her again.  He wanted her under him, on top of him, beside him, in his bed, on the floor, wherever he could hold on to her and keep her in his arms forever.

Weekend Dirty Dozen - One

This is my first attempt at the Weekend Dirty Dozen and I picked an excerpt out of my recently released novella, Being Improper.

Being Improper is set in 1897 Philadelphia, and showcases a young woman, Carrie Scott, whose fiance died suddenly in a horse accident some time before the story is set.  Instead of going back on the auction block, she uses his death to hide away from the world and hold on to her freedom.  But when her body demands attention, she attributes it to Female Hysteria and goes to a family friend for counsel.

Dr. Matthew Gibson was her eldest brother's best friend and only recently returned to Philadelphia after attending Harvard Medical School.  He's been biding her time, waiting for her to come out of her mourning clothes, but he never would have guessed that she'd come to him.

Helping to right the woman, Matthew ran across the street, dodging broughams and horses as he went, stepping off the sidewalk and into the park.

Looking around he took a deep breath, still holding his hat in front of him.  He needed it to hide the tenting of his pants.  Watching Carrie sitting across from his desk had been pure torture.  As she asked him for his help, he had been struck senseless by her beautiful pale skin illuminated by the sunlight that filtered in through his windows, making her glow like the angel she was .

He closed his eyes on the next breath, imagining her with her golden hair flowing down around her shoulders, her eyes as emerald as the grass below her bare feet, running away from him as he chased behind her, laughing as she slipped from his grasp only to get caught in his arms a few feet away.  In his mind, he finally caught her and they tumbled to the ground, her soft form under his as he lay between her splayed legs, the warm spring sun at his back.

Another breath and the light lavender scent she wore was almost cleared from his nose.  How could he help her when he was the last person she should ask?  The thought of touching her creamy skin, of examining her nude body, of looking at her untouched quim was enough to make him harder than he had ever been in his life.

He squeezed his eyes shut, gulping in air to calm his frazzled nerves, trying to relax the beast in his trousers who wanted nothing more than to slide within her welcoming heat.  In the few times he had seen her since his return to Philadelphia, he had been struck with how womanly she had become; the epitome of grace, elegance, and sensuality.

Six Sentence Sunday - Twelve

I'm heading over to my new release, Being Improper, my very first historical romance for this week's post.  It showcases 1897 Philadelphia and our heroine Carrie, who goes to a handsome doctor with a concern.

“Mrs. Granger came to visit me last week…and told me of…a procedure…you perform here in this office.  She says it…helps her, relieves her in some way.  I believe she told me she suffers from…Female Hysteria.”
She paused, unable to continue without knowing he heard her words, she needed a response from him before she could continue, but he sat there, unmoving.  Carrie wasn’t even sure he breathed he was so still.  Long seconds passed, it felt like hours in the silence of the room, but could have not been longer than a minute.

RELEASE DAY!

I've been a busy bee the past few months, and it's already time for another release.  Whew!

Being Improper is my first historical romance -- something I've wanted to write for a long time.  This one came to me in a dream and I wrote it the next day, sixteen long hours of typing.  It's also inspired by the Girl's Guide to Sex Toys series, as it talks about Female Hysteria and the use of early vibrators.

Born into the world as mere chattel, Carrie Scott rebels against the oppression women are dealt in 1897 Philadelphia the only way she knows how—by hiding under layers of black mourning clothes worn for a fiancé she respected but did not love. Freedom from the marriage auction block allowed her the quiet she needed, but the lonely life eventually made her body yearn for more.

Dr. Matthew Gibson was floored to see his best friend’s little sister standing in his office, now the full fledged beauty he had always expected her to become. But the fact she was asking to be treated for “Female Hysteria” made his fingers itch to touch her and claim her as his own.

Neither knew that the one afternoon in his office would change their lives forever.

Six Sentence Sunday - Eleven

I took a few weeks off from Six Sentence Sunday, I was stuck in mass edit land.  Glad to be back and bring you another excerpt from my recently published Siren novel, All's Fair in Love and Lust.

I have already introduced you guys to the first two sets of characters in the mini-stories, and here is a snippet from the third story featuring Kacey and Daniel.  Married, the two have drifted apart, but with the help of Eros's magic, they confront their failing relationship.

Daniel looked up at her, a question in his features. “Where did we take a wrong turn? We loved each other so much, could not go a day without touching, hugging, kissing each other. I miss it. I miss you. And it is breaking me inside.”
